Reducing risks: Spreading awareness

Every employee should encourage awareness and positive behaviour that can reduce the risks of anaphylactic reactions.

Keep all pupils aware
Keep pupils with life-threatening allergies aware
Keep other staff aware
Keep school community aware
Keep all pupils aware

Educate them about anaphylaxis.
Encourage them to:
  • respect risk reduction strategies
  • wash hands before and after eating
  • keep surfaces of desks and tables clean
  • avoid sharing food, utensils, etc.
  • support their severely allergic classmates:
    • do not bully or tease
    • do not pressure a classmate to eat something
    • go for help quickly if a classmate is having an allergic reaction
